Aviation is in the midst of a manning crisis.  The looming retirement of Baby Boomer pilots, coupled with increasing public demand for air travel has resulted in a spike of airline hiring and an upstream talent drain at other operations within the industry.  The training, retention, and absorption of aircrew has become a major operational challenge for military and civil air operators alike.  In the same vein, the level of experience of aircrew is declining in all facets of the industry, which has eroded the ability of operators to effectively supervise, mentor and develop the new generation of aviators.
